THE IMMORTAL LIFE OF HENRIETTA LACKS

Rating:★★★★
Category:Books
Genre: Other
Author:Rebecca Skloot
At the beginning of reading the title of the novel, I thought it’s something about the life of vampires, Dracula, werewolves and kinds of that. But then I dropped down the thought at the first paper (or page? since I read it from ebook). It’s all about the life of an amazing, friendly, kind colored-woman (frankly I always get shivered every time the word ‘color’ is repeated in all pages in the novel. It might show how bad white people treated them) who lived to her fullest. The author of the novel Rebecca Skloot-who is white, did series of investigations about Henrietta Lacks whose cells have been beneficial to medical department
.
The novel is divided into 3 parts, Life, Death and Immortality. Rebecca tried to dig information from people who used to live with Hennie (how her family called Henrietta), who knew her well and (supposed to) thank her for her amazing cells that survive. It’s not a piece of cake for Rebecca to get information from people who once were skeptical about her intention.

Honestly, I haven’t finished reading the novel but the urge of sharing the novel is so big that I can’t bear not to write it down. For your information, I’m not from medical department, and I’m not a really big fan of true story book. But I’m a kind of fantasy book freak, but I can’t resist reading the book even in the middle of reading Egyptian mythology based=novel by Rick Riordan, The Kane Chronicles. However, the 2010 released novel is really page turning. I’m positive.
